Found Cat in Snape Wood, Bulwell Nottinghamshire Subject: Black and white - very feral cat

Pet Type: Cat

Date Listed: March 6, 2010

Area Found: Snape Wood, Bulwell Nottinghamshire

This half and half black and white cat (black top half, white bottom half) is a well-known feral cat on the estate, and visits me a couple of times a day for food.

A seemingly old cat with many white hairs (I think of them as grey hairs !), he looks very chunky and well built but actually hes in need of a good groom as I think hes probably a bit thinner than he looks. Hes very rough and ready, with a chunk missing out of his ear and a clump of missing fur (which is gradually growing back) - he is very much in need of a good bath, but getting that close to him is impossible due to his behavioural issues.

He has a real wild streak in him, probably out of fear, and it has taken some serious confidence building to get him so tame that he will sniff my hand and sit at my feet to eat his dinner. However, he can turn very quickly and often hisses and growls, and occasionally lashes out with a fully-clawed paw (as the scratches on my arm prove). He does not seem to be a necessarily nasty cat, but is very distrusting of humans.

Having said that, he must have been someones cat once upon a time as when it was really cold hed march into my house and plonk himself down on the staircase for no more than half an hour - heaven help anyone who wanted to pass him !

Quite a laid back cat, Ive only heard him meow twice in the time Ive known him. He happily lounges on my wheelie bins, and is completely oblivious to wildlife like squirrels or birds. Hes pretty ambivalent towards other cats, but I think he has an elevated status and is probably Top Cat amongst the strays on the estate due to his age, apparent size and war wounds.

He sprays everywhere he goes, suggesting he is not neutered.
