Subject: White and black cat - very feral Pet Type: Cat Date Listed: March 6, 2010 Area Found: Snape Wood, Bulwell Nottinghamshire Mainly white cat with black markings, this feral cat has been visiting me daily for at least the last 6 months. He is very much an outdoors cat and shows no interest in domesticity. He seems in good condition, but is incredibly wary around humans, preferring to hide behind a huge plant pot when I approach him gently with a bowl of food. He may well be a completely feral cat (ie born and raised in the wild) but he does meow very quietly at me occasionally (especially when hungry) which means he may have had some human contact in the past. Hes generally in good condition (a bit frayed around the edges, but the coat is in good condition) - no idea of how old he is, but I suspect a senior cat that has adapted well to life in the wild. I suspect I am not alone in feeding him on the estate, as hes a good size. His wild behaviour includes sitting on my hedgehog box and waiting for passing squirrels or birds to cross his path. However, he seems completely inept at catching anything, even the mice which live under my patio ! He has very yellow eyes and has gingerish rear legs. Ive temporarily named him as Bashful due to his demeanour. Hes probably ranked number two in the feral cat world in Snape Wood - generally tolerant of other cats, he has been known to lash out at interlopers |
