i have a male cat, about 13 years old. He was neutered as a kitten. Recently i have noticed what looks like a penis. Am confused as i have never seen this before and don't know if it is normal. Surely i would have noticed it before if it had been there? It is quite obvious.

Also, another family member mentioned that they thought he may be becoming slightly incontinant of urine because they have noticed small wet patches on their lap after he has been sitting there. Do you think these could be related?

Is this normal or should i take him to the vet?!

If in any doubt get him to the vet there maybe an underlining problem.

Usually incontinence would be associated with UTI, which, in male cats, can be very dangerous, they can cause fatal blockages very quickly.

If there is also an unidentified lump, it could be anything including a hematoma, abscess, hernia, or tumor.

The quicker you get this looked at, the better.

It could also be that, even though he's been done, he has become, for want of a better word, horny and the fact that his penis is showing and there are damp patches could be the after effect. As he's only just started showing these symptoms then there could be a hormone imbalance which again would mean go to the vets. If it is only happening to one particular family member it could be that he's sexually aroused by them. 2 of the three male cats that I have still get aroused and hump various things even though they've been done and it's perfectly normal if not annoying.

If in doubt go to the vet, just don't get worried until the vet tells you to.

I am having the same trouble with my cat! He's 10 years old and was fixed as a kitten. I have never seen anything like it before, and am worried about it. Did you ever find out exactly what was going on with your cat?

I would for sure take him to the vet and see if something is going on. Maybe they didn't do things correctly or he could be having another problem but yeah, take him asap and see if something else is wrong.
