I would not recommend flea collars, for adult cats and especialy for kittens. There are cases of bad irritation, and sometimes cats start chewing on them and get poisoned.

Advantage is an excellent product, we had applied it just once, and our cats have been flea-free for over two years. I am not sure whether it can be used on kittens, you'll need to ask the vet.
